Who We Are

The Motley County Library  is located in Matador, Texas.  The Motley County Library serves  the 1,390 people who live in the county and provides free services to all residents living within the state of Texas.

The library holds over 10,000 materials including books, compact discs, video cassettes, DVD's, cassette tapes and books on cassette and on CD.  In total, over 7,000 items were checked out of the library during fiscal year 2006-2007!  In addition to these items, hundreds of people entered the library to utilize print and electronic reference resources, access the Internet through the Library’s DSL connection, or  to attend one of the Library’s many events.

Our friendly and professional librarian and volunteer staff are eager to serve you. Welcome to the Public Library!

Our Mission

The Motley County Library gives patrons of all ages, all economic backgrounds and all cultural diversities the means to continue to learn throughout their lives; to meet their recreational reading interests; to find, evaluate and use information in a variety of formats, including electronic; to get answers to their questions; and to better understand their personal and area heritage.
